Even Valentines was About Fuel
2011 has sparked a campaign regarding fuel costs. It is not only fleets that are suffering from high fuel costs, but also the regular person. At least with fleets they have some ways to combat the amount of money spent on fuel. Fleet owners can compare fuel cards, as well as use fleet trackers to help save on the amount of fuel used.
To a degree vehicle tracking can be used in regular cars too, but there has been little relief for either type of driver since the oil costs have risen again. Some very enterprising individuals hauled a seven tonne truck to Downing Street from Whitehall on February 14th, 2011 for Valentine’s Day. The reason why? It was to ask the Prime Minister and Chancellor to “have a heart” regarding the fuel costs. The campaign was started by Quentin Wilson who supports the Fair Fuel UK Campaign and is also associated with the Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association. The truck began its journey at 11am.
Those apart of the stunt hope that the rate hikes scheduled for April will be reconsidered. They also hope that this campaign has managed to gain the support of the whole country in order to make the right changes.
